Energy Patterns

Photography work by Lenka Holubec

It is your conscious choice to change your patterns, the programs that control your life. Patterns are energy. They can be beneficial or not … You can outgrow your protective patterns that are a part of expanding who you are.

Mysterious patterns found on the ancient rocks fascinate me. When focusing on the forms evocative of life energy and hope but also those invoking fear and mystery, I am trying to envision the process of their formation. Some of the patterns reflect harmonious, fluid and well-balanced energy flows, full of life and robust vigor, while others are more indicative of receding vitality or the sudden ruptures and bursts of disturbed and unstable energy. While trying to understand how these patterns reflect the energy behind them, I am becoming more aware of a connection between this energy and us. My sense of what we express through our actions, emotions, art, and even simple gestures has deepened as this experience made me understand that there is no divide between nature and us.

Traditionally, we have learnt to perceive certain patterns as beautiful, energizing, joyful, while others impress us as threatening, sad or ambiguous. Yet, our understanding of how our perception of the world around us has been formed seems to be far from complete. Through the rudimentary shapes, structures, lines, and textures of the ancient rocks of Lakes Huron and Superior, as they were created millions, and in some cases billions, of years ago, I would like to contemplate a meaning of these patterns to us.

My fascination with these rock formations dates back many years. Increasingly, I have become intrigued not just by the multitude of their forms but also by a notion of the energy behind their striking presence. They appeal to me as expressions of enormous creative force capable of having an immediate energizing and uplifting effect upon us. They truly are unique artifacts and stunning manifestations of nature’s creative powers. The work pleads with us to connect with nature more closely to appreciate and explore it fully as an essential condition of our survival as humans and spiritual beings.
