Pools of Reflection

Photography work by Lenka Holubec

"Each woodland pool is a mirror,
blue sky looks up from its waters,
if it were not for them,
the sky as it fell would break."

(From "The Opening of the Wells", cantatas by B. Martinu)

Reflections captivate me as a mesmerizing resemblance of the world around us. I see them as a sort of intermediaries between this reality and some other, subtler, form of the existence. They reveal yet another dimension of what we can see through a naked eye.

At times, I would like to take a hold of those visions, just to be able to look a little longer. However, reflections remain elusive, often disappearing in a flicker of the eye.
